A Single Woman's Journey To Motherhood

Location: Washington, United States

I began my TTC journey in January 2005. It finally worked with the 5th IUI and along came Eliana! I started trying for a second (T42) a little over a year later, and was thrilled to get pregnant on the second try this time. Jacob soon joined our family! Not sure if I am done at two, but come along for my journey in motherhood. If you stop by, please leave me a short note! I like to know when I have visitors. :)

Sleepyhead

Ellie has been sleeping a lot today. But I suppose that is her right. The last two days I have had to wake her twice. Yesterday, I had a dentist appointment at 10:00 and at 9:00 she still hadn't woken up for the morning (yes..she had slept 12 hours straight at this point...aren't I lucky!!). So, I had to wake her up. Then, in the afternoon she just fell asleep for her nap around 2:00, and at 2:30 I had to wake her to get her ready to check out a possible childcare provider (with whom I was very pleased, by the way!).

Today, we had to go into Seattle to have a Barium swallow test. Ellie has had a cough since birth that has seemed to become more frequent, plus at times just downright scary when she sounds like she is choking and ends the coughing fit with a big gasp for air. They gave her an X-ray on Tuesday to rule out pneumonia, did a nasal swab to check for whooping cough (results still pending but I doubt it..), and then this test today to check for reflux. I had to wake her at 5:00 to feed her since she couldn't eat again until after the test. Then I woke her again to head into Seattle. The test went well and no sign of reflux..which I found disappointing in a way because I would like to know what is causing her cough, but glad that it isn't reflux at such a young age.

After that this morning, I checked out JoAnn's to see if the toychest we want to buy is in (no), went to school to sign some papers, stopped at BabiesRUs to buy some diapers, and then we had a family picnic to attend. She slept about 20 minutes there, fell asleep on the way home, went down for a nap and apart from waking to eat once at 6:30, has slept ever since...

School's out!

Yay! School is out for summer. :) More time to spend with my adorable little daughter.

Adorable things she is up to these days:
- cooing. Just love it. :)
- thumb sucking, hers or mine, she doesn't care. :)
- getting really excited when I walk in to the room
- eating a TON! and growing like crazy!

I have really enjoyed having my mom here and am sad to see her go at the end of the week.

I am just starting the search for childcare for next year...keep your fingers crossed that I can find the perfect match at an affordable price.

I posted our most recent professional photos on Flickr.

Sorry for the short update...will try and do more now that school is out! :)
