I began my TTC journey in January 2005. It finally worked with the 5th IUI and along came Eliana! I started trying for a second (T42) a little over a year later, and was thrilled to get pregnant on the second try this time. Jacob soon joined our family! Not sure if I am done at two, but come along for my journey in motherhood. If you stop by, please leave me a short note! I like to know when I have visitors. :)

Online Education

This is mostly a reply to Carrie since I am not sure she would find my response if I respond to her comment a couple posts down. :)

There are lots of schools that have online programs. I am not sure what kind of program you are looking/thinking about, but I would bet there is a university somewhere in the States that has that in an online program.

My M.Ed. that I am working on right now is completely online. I read my text, listen to the lecture, participate in discussions, work on group projects, submit assignments, everything online. It's great! I can do my assignments when I want to and when I have the time. My most common time to really get down to work is Friday late at night (after I have had a nap) and very early Sunday mornings. I work at various times throughout the week as well...but those are my two most productive time slots. :)

I have taken some online courses with the Univ of Phoenix and enjoyed them. I was able to complete the classes much quicker going at my own pace and still work and take care of my kids.

Carrie can't go back to school for at least 6 months, she is watching her Sim character go to school, lol.

I wish it were that simple. Have I mentioned that in the Sims 2, your characters age, and there are genetics in play when you have kids? So my sim family had kids, who moved out, got married and now have kids of their own, who will grow up, move out, and have kids of their own. I'm never gonna get back to school at this rate!

I'm trying to finish up my undergraduate degree. I'm a music performance major with a minor in Spanish. I haven't made it past Spanish I yet. As far as music goes, I only have my jury to complete. If you don't know what that is, it's basically a recital that I prepare but it's not a public thing. It's me on stage with my accompanist and the music dept faculty sitting in the audience. I play the clarinet. I doubt that there's an online program for clarinet performance. And I'm at that awkward point in my education where I have to complete my last few hours at the college where I'm "enrolled" in order to get my degree from them. Bah!

Oh no....You are really intriguing me about The Sims 2...I don't know how much longer I can hold off before I before I buy it and become equally addicted. I always wanted my Sim children to grow up....BTW, since the kids age, do the adults age too? Do they eventually die of old age?

Good luck finishing up your B.A! I didn't realize you were studying either Music or Spanish! How exciting! What do you play?

Everyone ages. When you have a baby, it's a baby for a couple of sim days, then becomes a toddler, who needs to be taught to talk, walk and potty train, then becomes a child who goes to school, the child becomes a teenager and can get a part time job. Then it becomes an adult, then an elder. There is this stuff you can "buy" with Aspiration Points called Elixir of Life that extends the time until you reach the next life transition. I've been keeping some of my sims from reaching the elder stage, because once they're elders they can keel over dead at any time for any or no reason. And have I mentioned that I have several sim families and one of them is me and my husband? That family is messed up. In the game, my husband is having an affair with his male coworker. Not happening in real life, I can assure you.

Anyway, I play clarinet. I've been playing for about 15 years. I also play the guitar and piano. As for Spanish, well, I really didn't have any interest in the language until I met my husband. I already speak French, though not as fluently as I used to, as well as Swedish. The problem I'm having in learning Spanish is that my French is getting in the way. I think of saying something and realize that the sentence I had formed is half French. That drives my hubby mad!

hehe In the original Sims game (because I don't have the new one....YET), I also have myself in the game.

My ex-boyfriend gave me the game and when I first loaded it up, we were both playing, so both of us were in the game...it was kinda weird.:) Since then, I bought a new computer, and he has gotten engaged in real life, and he isn't in my game anymore;)

I didn't know you spoke French! French is my first second language. When I first started teaching Spanish down here, I constantly got mixed up because I had been using my French constantly for 6 years, and not a word of Spanish...Now my Spanish is getting better again (though I only teach first year so I don't get as much high level experience as I should...) and my French is a little rusty.

I am going to make a new post shortly...it will have my dinner decision in it. :)
